Music
Music has always held its grip upon me, held me in its own personal thrall.
The many instruments that blend together, compliment each other to form a melody, or even a wondrous voice on its own – a gift to the person who owns this instrument from the Gods – when executed into a rhythm, lost in the spell of its creator, creates perfect bliss in the way it flows and sways into the listener, the receiver.
And even better now, the electronic capabilities of the guitar, stretching elastically, a note able to twist and turn and unending if you wanted it to, along with the pounding drums making the backbone of the music. The seductive bass sounds, frantic or leisurely in its pace, in the background, making the music satisfying, fuller. A harmony, a cacophony of melodies, dancing around each other and the glory of the sound – indeed, how glorious it is! – coming on and assaulting your senses, making you lost.
Could you dance to this? Your feet might be tapping to it, your voice humming to it, but would you surrender your body to this? Follow the rhythm into sinuous movements, your face contorted into a joyous smile. For some of you who are lost in the intensity of the music, you might even close your eyes, and your actions – jerking of your head so much it had to hurt – but you don’t feel it. Only intense pleasure, rapture.
Such pleasure to your senses, able to affect your mood if you let it. Hilarious how slow moody sounds make you feel the melancholy creep up to you; dramatic and flamboyant sounds pierce through your senses, make you want to jump and smile, announce the emotions you feel through your actions. Songs about love, happiness, death, even – the lyrics don’t really matter at the point in time when you listen to it, first the melody enraptures you, catches it in its irrevocable trap, and you let it take you somewhere. Make you feel, without imagining that emotion. It simply washes over you. Take you away… let it hold you in thrall until it builds into a crescendo, that satisfying finish, pleasure in sound.
